Legal framework

    • While surrogacy for foreigners in Europe is prohibited in many countries, Georgia has a well-organized process with primary legislative provisions in place as far back as 1997.
    • Georgian law prohibits a surrogate from registering the baby on her behalf. Only the intended parents are allowed to be recorded on the birth certificates.
    • The new parents can be assured psychological relief and reassurance by having the birth certificate issued within 10-15 days.
    • A surrogate must, according to law, follow all medical instructions given by the medical staff. Surrogates must have at least one own child.
    • One of the parents should be biologically linked to the embryo to do surrogacy.

Eligibly

    • Hetero married and non-married couples, being in a marriage or in a relationship at least one year before starting the journey.
    • Medical indication for egg donation and surrogacy is requested

Birth certificate

    • Issued in 10-15 days, and names of intended parents are indicated

Exit procedure timelines

    • Exit procedure depends on each embassy and the country of residence of the parents. Approximately up to 6 weeks from delivery until the passport of the baby
    • Based on Georgian regulations baby is not granted with Georgian passport or citizenship unless the home country declines to grant a child a citizenship/passport

Egg donation (Anonymous/Non-Anonymous)

    • Anonymous, parents do not know the name or last name of the egg donor but can see adulthood photos available in their profiles.

    • From 3-5 months

    • From 2022 Insurance for surrogates and babies born through surrogacy is available in the country
